Merredith Stewart, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away at the age of 47 on Sunday, December 25, 2016. Merredith was born on October 14, 1969 in Houston, Texas to Jerry and Brenda Stewart.
Merredith was a graduate of Sharpstown High School and received her undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She worked in the staffing and recruiting field for many years.
Merredith’s friends and family were the highlight of her life. She enjoyed and treasured spending time with them. Her hobbies were running, drawing, and visiting the Hill Country home of her parents. She adored and was adored by her nieces, Sara and Kristen.
Merredith was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Matt and Vera Stewart and Ruben and Loree Scharff; and her mother, Brenda Scharff Stewart.
She is survived by her father, Jerry Stewart; her sister, Marla Stewart Ricks; her brother, Stephen Stewart; her brother-in-law, James Ricks; and her nieces, Sara and Kristen Ricks.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Mexia City Cemetery, where her earthly body was laid to rest next to her mother. A reception followed at the Quality Inn in Groesbeck, TX
An additional memorial service will be held in Houston at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, or to a charity of your choice.
